We believe that connection to community is central for a healthy spirit. As we get older it can take more effort to leave our comfort zone and meet and work with new people. The best way to combat isolation and loneliness is to step out and share our passion and enthusiasm. We've put together a few creative suggestions but there's plenty of choice in Brighton.

Another way to stay connected is by working as a volunteer. Some of our deepest friendships and most meaningful experiences can come from working to help improve the lives of others in our community.

With our extended life span, we might also need to change our consciousness around ageing and our mortality. This might require some inner work and we offer a few suggestions.
CREATIVE
Be Creative
As we age it is easy to slip into habitual behaviour. Creative interactions are a great way to challenge ourselves and develop meaningful relationships.
Music - Choirs, singing, drumming and communal music making are wonderful ways to connect with others.

Dance - It is not just for the young. To share a space for movement with others can deepen your sense of well-being. Here are a some links to few options:

Art - You don't have to have been to art school to experience connection through painting, drawing or ceramics.
Writing - Maybe now is the time to start writing that masterpiece. A journal, blogs, a script, a novel. All things are possible.

Volunteering
What better way is there to put your life into perspective than offering support to others. Many volunteers say they get far more out of it than they put in.

Inner Work
We believe that to live well in the second half of life requires a degree of self-reflection and inner work. Here are just a few possibilities :
7 Ages Workshops are carefully designed to support your journey in the second half of life.
Death Cafe - At a Death Cafe people drink tea, eat cake and discuss death. The aim is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their (finite) lives.
Chi Gung - is a holistic system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality and martial-arts training.

Yoga can take many different forms but here are a few classes suitable for the less flexible amongst us.
Meditation can train the mind and bring attention and awareness so that you are in an emotionally calm and stable state.
