Have we forgotten how to play?

Time and Location
14 Nov 2025, 11:00 – 15:00
The Village Barn, , Church Hill, Patcham Brighton BN1 8YU
About
With so much suffering and anger in the world, it is easy to forget how important it is for us to play. In this month's session we will share what play was like for us as a child through photos, objects and memories before considering what play means to us now. How important is play in the second half of life? What are the benefits? And do we need more access to playfulness in our community. If that all sounds a bit serious, there will also be a game or two. You're invited to bring one of two photo of yourself as a child. Or an object or memory connected with play in your younger years. But no pressure. The session will be held by Prue, Marion and Nicola with some input from Eleni and Adam
Hope to see you there. X

These sessions run throughout the year and are designed to develop on-going connection and purpose as we age. Each month we explore recurring themes such as courage, vulnerability and wisdom. Over several years Life-Stage has developed a range of engaging activities to support a positive mental attitude. After mid-life , time seems to speed up, so this day is a chance for us to slow down together, to breath, to listen empathically and to share. We use tried and tested ways to explore where we are on the ageing journey and what it is that we want for ourselves and our community It’s a space to let go of what is no longer working in your life so that by the end of the session you can leave with fresh energy and new hope.. Everyone is welcome and all activities are by invitation, so you can simply “pass” if you wish. Life-Stage Connections is not a one-off event - you can renew your connections and start new dialogues every month. We look forward to you joining us soon.
Each session is organised by 3 or 4 members of the Life-Stage team with many years of experience in facilitating group work. Life-Stage events are loosely based on The Power in Ageing by Adam Duncan
