About

Empathy & Anger As We Age

Are we more prone to anger as we grow older?

Do we need more empathy as we age?

Do you remember 20 odd years ago there was a TV series called Grumpy Old Men and Grumpy Old Women? It was very popular at the time but was it just an exploitative stereotype? A easy target?   It does seem as though the older we get the more there is to complain about. Tortuous packaging  and computer passwords may get your goat and other people may become increasingly annoying after you leave middle-age.  So do we have less tolerance as we grow older? Are we quicker to anger? And does this lead to isolation and loneliness in later life.

Perhaps the antidote to anger is empathy. Staying open to others, so that we can understand  and share the feelings of someone else, may seem more challenging as we age. Life-Stage is about creating deeper connection and broadening our perspective on life, so why not join our facilitated discussion Forum on Sunday 29.
